We've just made your journey planning straightforward and cost-effective for the ideal African adventure for first-time safari-goers and safari purists alike. Join our safari group on the 4th of May 2023 in Zambia's capital, Lusaka, before heading off into the wilderness.
Zambia's Iconic Destinations safari is a set departure date for a maximum of eight travellers; perfect for solo travellers*, couples or friends wishing to travel with like-minded people and possibly make friends of a lifetime!
Zambia's Iconic Destinations safari is iconic in name and nature. We are taking you to two of Zambia's most desirable wilderness areas, where you will experience Africa's spectacular wildlife species, including elephants, lions, hippos and more. Ending your trip at the awe-inspiring "must visit" Victoria Falls.
Your first stop is South Luangwa National Park. One of the most popular parks in un-touristy Zambia. The Luangwa River contains the largest concentration of hippos and crocodiles in the entire world, meandering through the wide valley floor in the park, creating a system of ox-bow lagoons and ending in the mighty Zambezi. May is the perfect time to visit South Luangwa, which is only open six months of the year – getting steadily hotter toward its close in October.
The Lower Zambezi National Park is your second stop. One of the most scenically diverse areas in Africa, with the jaw-dropping mountainous backdrop of the Zambian escarpment behind which the sun sets. Here you will find beautiful forests of albizia trees along the banks of the simply stunning Zambezi River, teeming with wildlife and birds and offering fantastic catch-and-release sport fishing.
Lastly, you will spend three nights at the world-famous Victoria Falls, forming a border between the far south of Zambia and Zimbabwe, as the sheer volume of the Zambezi's waters thunders down into a narrow gorge. As David Livingstone once described, "Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by Angels in their flight…."
First, Chindeni Camp - 4th to 7th of May 2023 - In an unbeatable location on the edge of a lagoon, where hippos chortle and elephants wallow. Chindeni Camp is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful tented camps in South Luangwa. There’s something about sleeping under canvas that ignites a sense of adventure in everyone.
Here you will combine that thrill with Chindeni’s great modern, modernist style and comfort in one of its four opulent tents and experience its great food, hospitality and professional safari guiding. Gaze out from your private veranda onto the lagoon, which attracts and supports birds and animals from miles around. Or settle back with a gin-and-tonic in the central lounge and dining area on a multi-level, varnished deck; a simply beautiful soothing space overlooking a glorious expanse and view of the lagoon and its hippo and croc inhabitants and the visiting ellies taking shade in the surrounding by ebony trees.
Secondly, Chiawa Camp, from the 7th to 10th of May 2023; is one of Zambia's premier luxury safari camps. Chiawa Camp boasts an out-of-this-world setting. Spectacular views over the mighty Zambezi River and its resident wildlife. Indulge in world-class cuisine, personalised service, a vast array of activities led by who has been voted as Africa's Best Guiding Team, and simply have the experience of a lifetime.
Chiawa Camp offers an authentic experiential safari. Here the focus is on the river, the wildlife, and you. Chiawa is part of a multi-award-winning safari operation. A unique haven of warmth and hospitality, dedicated to making your safari dreams come true. You can indulge carefree, knowing that the camp has a strong conservation ethos, community commitment, and an award-winning guiding team.
Finally, The River Club 10th to 13th of May 2023; your last stop on this hosted tour. This property is defined by the value they attach to helping guests create lasting memories together. Unpretentious hospitality in an outstanding, exclusive location, tucked into the river banks of the Zambezi, combining the natural heritage of both the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls. This stop allows you to explore the culturally-extraordinary Livingstone-town, adrenal activities, spa downtime and even a visit to Simonga Village, an authentic piece of present-day semi-rural life.
The River Lodge is soaked in ambience and history. Its main building is a well-appointed, rebuilt 1940s homestead, complete with a comfortable lounge, dining room, library, swimming pool, wrap-around veranda and gift shop. Meals are mixed up, and enjoyed on the veranda, in the Gazebo, around the infinity pool or in the lush gardens beneath the trees, giving The River Club many alternatives for private dining. A secluded deck above the river seemingly adds the expansive infinity pool to the river itself. For the energetic, the croquet lawn, the gymnasium, walking/running trail and all-weather tennis court are perfect. A ‘Summerhouse’ and snooker room provide additional areas to enjoy. Beauty treatments are available in the Wellness Centre for those wishing to shake off that safari dust, before their onward journey!
