Imagine the raw, back to basics experience of camping out on the African savannah! An opportunity to live like travellers of a forgotten era, sharing a campfire with the night sounds ringing against a deathly silence, as you indulge in stories of the days inspiring moments. This is what mobile tented safari is all about!
A mobile tented safari in the wild is undoubtedly the most ‘real' experience available to safari enthusiasts these days, and Botswana still caters to this unique adventure.
Botswana is in one of Africa's most pristine and untouched wilderness's, offering space and exclusivity in some of its more remote and desolate areas. For many, travelling to these parts is too large an undertaking, and why spend time managing camp logistics when there's wildlife to be seen and experiences to be had? Remove the headache, and explore Africa with a professional guide, a backup and support team for camp management and cooking, and most vital, a guarantee of fresh daily ice each for your well-deserved sundowner!
In a nutshell, a mobile camp is set up from scratch before your arrival and, when removed, leaves nothing to tell the tale of its existence. Together with a full complement of staff, a logistics vehicle moves ahead of your safari group to set up and manage all in-camp services. Accommodations are simple but very comfortable, and there is an open-air en-suite bathroom with bucket showers and short drop toilets. Your tent is serviced three times a day, and water boiled over a fire is delivered upon your request for showers, as well as complimentary laundry. You can expect authentic bush-cooked and tasty cuisine, as well as local beverages, served to your preference as you celebrate the day's safari trails.
Modified safari vehicles offering all the comforts as modern luxury safaris camps' are prepared each day with tea, coffee, snack box and a full beverage fridge. During winter, ponchos and hot water bottles accompany you on your game drives to keep that chill from your bones while you enjoy searching the African savannah.
In Botswana, you'll generally have exclusive use of your own mobile tented camp, which moves through the main game reserves and national parks; totally wild with excellent game viewing. There are some limitations (you might not be able to drive off-road in some areas, and you'll need to be back in camp just after sunset), as the areas are open to the public; meaning there could be other vehicles around. However, the wilderness is beautiful, the wildlife is plentiful, and the guides are excellent and able to get you off the beaten track when they can.
Camps move from one private site to another and from one Game Reserve to another! This extreme flexibility allows you to get close to nature in its pure form and focus on the experience and the tranquillity!
