Going Wild in Tanzania

Dramatic savannah storms sweep in nourishment and new life, and an innate primordial urge pulls the wildebeest to the site of their origins to reproduce. The plains literally come to life for the birthing season, and we walk in search of these new beginnings; and some short-lived endings.

Pack your dusty boots and join Deon De Villiers,  Safari Guru founder in Tanzania for an exciting journey of a lifetime.

We're heading south of the Ndutu Region, which forms part of the northern section of the famed Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, millions of wildebeest and zebra dominate the landscape, looking for fresh, palatable grasses, flourished from the first rains to drop their young. Think two million wildebeest giving birth to hundreds of thousands of young littering a landscape of unending savannah and massive vaulted skies! A mind-boggling experience, offering one of the worlds greatest spectacles, the birthing of the populous great migration, together with its predatory entourage.

Going Wild in Tanzania

Our camp, six comfortable and intimate Serian tents will be set up in an acacia woodland on the edge of the short-grass plains, all connected to the unfenced southern reaches of the Serengeti National Park. From here, we will have access to the popular Ndutu wildlife zones and the Ngorongoro Conservation areas. Still, we will spend much time walking the high country as we follow these ancient wildlife corridors on foot and fly-camping amongst a sea of colourful flowers.

The cornerstone of our safari experience at Serian is that we will enjoy our dedicated open-top safari vehicles, together with an Alex Walker trained safari guide and spotter. We'll go where the day takes us, be it a full day out with a picnic in the wilderness or a lazy siesta back in the camp; we'll ensure to get the most out of our stay. Serian guides are intimately familiar with the landscape and will translate and render it until we see it through their eyes.

This is an unplugged holiday in one of the Worlds last remaining black holes of connectivity, so there will be no rings and beeps as the hustle of the outside world tries to draw you back. You can expect 24-hour electricity powered by a generator, so not to worry, your mobile device will still provide excellent videography and imagery of the day's happenings!

'Each tent is available on a shared basis for you and a friend or as a single and offers an en-suite bathroom with a flushing toilet and bucket shower.

As we follow our boots along the dusty trails, we might opt for a night or two spent in the wild. We take adventure back to its roots with fireside meals and bedrolls under the stars – relish the stripped-back simplicity that is the beauty of flycamping. Now this is "Wild in Tanzania"!
