Mana Pools National Park lies at the heart of the Zambezi Valley, a remote, beautiful place with spectacular views of the mighty Zambezi River and the mountainous backdrop of the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia.
Ruckomechi Camp stands in a generous private concession along the banks of this mighty river, gazing out towards Zambia’s evocative escarpment. Its broad-canopied ana trees create welcomed shade throughout the stunning tented camp and craved by the elephants for their rich, nutritious seeds.
The camp's central living space includes an inviting firepit for pleasant evenings beneath the African night skies. Other unique features include a pool which overlooks a broad sweep of the river, an outdoor “bath with a view” in a secluded, scenic spot.
This camp can accommodate twenty guests and four children in ten spacious and beautifully decorated safari tents, including two family rooms, lie beneath the ana trees.
The area offers large concentrations of buffalo and elephant, while predators such as lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are often sighted. Greater kudu, Burchell's zebra, impala, warthog and common waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains and the grunting of hippo can be heard all day. Birdlife is superb, with numerous local specials like collared palm-thrush and racket-tailed roller.
The area is explored by vehicle or on foot and offers access to the extensive private concession as well as the Mana Pools National Park, covering a great diversity of habitats, and therefore a wide range of wildlife.
Motorboat cruises down the Zambezi River are in nine-seater pontoons or six-seater speed boats. Canoes are a more adventurous option to see the large numbers of waterbirds and other wildlife that are attracted to the river and seasonal pans.
There is no better way of falling asleep than being serenaded by the sounds of nature while you gaze up at the starry skies of Africa. A romantic Star Bed; conveniently situated near a productive waterhole is available for all patrons to enjoy for a night during their stay.

DumaTau, on the banks of the Linyanti River’s Osprey Lagoon, is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, between two elephant corridors, offering an exclusive combination of land and river experiences. Wildlife is viewed during game drives, on nature walks, and while boating along the serene waters of the Linyanti River (levels permitting).
The tented units (eight twin and two family) are raised off the ground with window-like netting providing a sense of space and dramatic views of the river. The architecture and interiors evoke a bygone age of exploration, carried through the main areas and ending on a floating fire deck. The Star Bed at Zibadianja Lagoon offers a thrilling perspective of the African bush at night.
Dotted along the forested riverbanks, Time + Tide Chongwe is surrounded by wild beauty. Set at the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers against a beautiful mountainous backdrop, the camp has the best views in the Lower Zambezi.
Sit outside your tent, listening to playful vervet monkeys scampering in the winterthorn trees overhead. Before you, an elephant wades across the languid river, dwarfed by the mountainous escarpment beyond.
Chitabe Lediba is located on the same island as its sister camp, Chitabe. The main area and pool enjoy glorious views over the surrounding floodplains and small lediba (remnant lagoon waterhole), where a variety of game comes to drink during the day. The area, with outstanding wildlife, is explored on guided walks or day and night game drives.
Canvas tented-style rooms are built on raised decks with luxurious and tasteful interiors. The en-suite bathrooms have double vanity basins and indoor and outdoor showers offering spectacular views. There are two family units, one (for older children) with an adjoining front deck and the other (for youngsters) with an adjoining corridor; each family room has its own en-suite facilities.
