UGANDA, often referred to as “THE PEARL OF AFRICA” due to its location, right in the heart of Africa and vast richness packed into a country merely the size of Great Britain or the US state of Oregon.

A less travelled tourism destination, yet the country is practically unmatched in wildlife, nature, heritage and cultural diversity.

Uganda is home to the source of the Nile; the worlds longest river, and much other land mass is covered by water, contained in rivers and rich wetlands holding some of Uganda's greatest diversity.

Temperatures average 25-30c year round, though variances in altitude and extensive water mass can influence weather patterns and typical rainfall seasons per region.

Most travellers visit Uganda for their well-known gorilla safaris, and to lesser extent chimpanzees, though Uganda quietly boasts eleven per cent of all birds in the world (1,000+ species). It's also a fact that Uganda has more bird species per square kilometre than anywhere else in the world. Uganda is most certainly a bird haven for enthusiasts, and topping it with above average chances of seeing the ultimate tick; the Shoebill Stork.

Uganda is also home to vast wildlife, including the Big Five, reptiles and specialist species such as pygmy hippo, forest elephant and even the intriguingly named "Least Long-tailed Forest Shrew..."

Known to have some of the friendliest people anywhere, Uganda is definitely a destination for less and well-travelled individuals looking for cultural entertainment, wildlife safaris and adventurous diversity.
