Hugging the banks of the Mara River, Ngare Serian is perfect if you’re after the ultimate elusive luxury: seclusion. ‘Ngare’ translates to ‘by the river’ in the Masai language, and the idea behind this snug little camp was to transport the serenity of the original Serian camp to the water’s edge.
The Masai Mara is considered one of the most wildlife-rich zones in the world, it is a mere 45-minute flight from Nairobi. ‘Mara’ in the language of the Masai means ‘spotted’ or ‘dotted’, and indeed, the landscape is littered with wildlife.
Mara North Conservancy proffers the added bonus of off- road driving, night game drives, and incredible walking safaris – as well as the exclusivity and privacy of limited access, without sacrificing any of the world-renowned game-viewing to be had in Masai Mara Reserve.
Ngare Serian is an intimate little camp, where the sounds of rushing water are punctuated only by languorous laughing hippo and animals visiting to drink. Early-morning explorations, picnic lunches under trees, sundowners and bush dinners – with exclusive use of the vehicle, the game drive possibilities are endless, and your schedule all comes down to what you happen to feel like on the day.
Ngare is open all year round, and along with Serian "The Original", it is one of just 11 member camps in the private and exclusive Mara North Conservancy.
The camp offers four vastly spacious tents set on hardwood decking, in a secluded area on the riverbanks of the Mara River. Each has an adjoining bush bathroom with hot and cold running water, flush toilet, and a shower. Luxurious bathtubs are built into the veranda decking, with a view over the river.
Its boutique style and intimate nature make it perfect for families or small groups, with hosted dining en famille, in the cosy dining room or on the lawn by the water.
This is your perfect getaway, with loads of activities, including; vehicle and walking safari, night game drives, bush dinners & picnics, river fishing (catch & release), and access to our their very own private conservation area and tree house; ‘The Nest’.
