The main camp area features a bar and an expansive deck offering beautiful views over a water hole and the savannah plains of Hwange. Near the edge of the deck is the old plunge pool which has generously been handed over to our ellie friends as a drinking pool, as the elephants were relentless in using it! This is a brilliant addition to the watering hole, as both of which are frequently visited by elephant families, and the elephant pool brings the ellies right next to camp - a real highlight at this great camp.  You may well be sipping on your cold drink listening to the (not so) distant low roar of lions. gazing at a congregation of elephants, meters away, peacefully drinking and sharing the moment with you.

The camp is luxurious but it also comfortable, homey yet elegant. Comfortable, as each of the seven sailcloth tents has a wooden front door (no need to fight with flaps!), gauze-covered sliding doors, wood floors, a wood-burning fireplace for the chilly evenings, a fan for the hot days, and a huge private viewing deck complete with sofa, table/chairs and a hammock. The fabulous en-suite bathrooms of each tent have a flushing loo (of course!), an indoor and an outdoor shower, and a copper slipper-style bathtub with beautiful views across the vast plains beyond. The camp has wooden walkways, several fire pits, and a small/plunge swimming pool. Elegant, as Somalisa showcases the natural beauty of Africa with wood and organic features of the bush, including kudhinda fabrics, which are 100% grown and made in Zimbabwe.
