Unbelievable rhino encounters, first class hospitality, exquisite cuisine and abundant outdoor adventures, all with a touch of luxury!

Solio Lodge Laikipia provides a soothing retreat into the natural world of Kenya’s wonderful wildlife, and the unique species found in the Laikipia region. Simple, chic and modern, Solio offers a fresh look on lodge design. Veering away from a traditional rustic lodge feel, it instead embraces a cleaner look with greenery as a theme throughout, embracing the surrounding vegetation and bringing the natural world in.

Stepping through Solio Lodge’s main entrance, guests are immediately hit with a sense of space and light, alongside spectacular views out onto Solio Game Sanctuary through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows. Open-plan spaces together with the high ceilings give a contemporary feel to the lodge which is dotted with plants and funky artwork. A wooden sundeck on the front lawn provides a peaceful dining experience for al fresco breakfasts and lunchtime feasts. Guests will find a bar, various indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of reading material scattered throughout the open plan mess area.

Just five individual cottages provide intimate accommodation at Solio Lodge Laikipia. Each luxury cottage is spaced well apart and is surrounded by greenery looking out into the sanctuary. Large sitting areas offer spectacular views of Mount Kenya. Private sundecks are perfect for relaxing to the sounds of nature whilst open fireplaces, sumptuous beds and deep bubble baths make the cottages delightfully cosy in the evenings. Guests can luxuriate in double-ended tubs, gazing out through floor-to-ceiling glass-fronted rooms at the star-lit night’s sky.

One cottage comprises of a spacious family unit, that accommodates up to five people. With double and twin en-suite bedrooms joined by a shared lounge area, there’s ample space for the whole family to relax, unwind and enjoy spending time together.

Enjoy peaceful morning, afternoon and evening game viewing in one of Kenya’s least busy private game reserves. The wildlife is abundant, making for easy and plentiful sightings. It also means there is no need to rush out first thing, unless you want to, of course! Spend time with the prolific numbers of black and white rhino and spot four out of the ‘big five’ (there are no elephants at Solio as they have been purposely fenced out to preserve the vegetation for the endangered black rhino). Reticulated giraffe, eland, waterbuck, lion, leopard, cheetah and many other species can all be spotted.

Guests at Solio benefit from unique roof top benches on our safari vehicles which offer the ultimate, uninterrupted game viewing. Our customised 4 x 4s are also kitted out with ponchos, suncream, drinks and wildlife books – everything to keep you happy during a game drive.

An array of additional activities are available and cater to all energy levels, walking, mountain biking, trout fishing and horse riding.
