Singita Kwitonda Lodge

Singita is the Shangaan word for 'Place of Miracles'; and the brand, focussed on conservation and ecotourism has been preserving African wilderness for the past 27 years. By extending their brand with Singita Kwitonda Lodge into Rwanda, we have no doubt, Singita will offer yet another small ecotourism miracle.

Flaunting breathtaking views of three volcanoes; Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura, and surrounded by high-altitude forests, Singita Kwitonda Lodge offers a unique and new experience compared to any of their other well-known destinations. Renowned with exceptional natural beauty, sustainably-aware luxury, and purpose-driven experiences as Rwanda has rightfully become known for; the lodge has been intrinsically designed with this unique environment in mind.

Kwitonda's handcrafted interiors showcase local design and, and the opulent and understated luxuriousness textures and deep, rich colours enhance the reflective quality of this tranquil haven. Free-flowing indoor and outdoor areas, an entertaining and alluring fire pit, interactive kitchen, bar-deli and wine cellar complete the picture, offering guests an exceptional primate safari experience and access to what's considered Africa's best gorilla-trekking experiences.

The lodge offers eight contemporary suites; as well as the private four-bedroom villa – Kataza House, and all linked by volcanic rock pathways to the central lodge, all carefully manicured by the attentive Rwandean personnel.

Each luxury suite features a private heated plunge pool, two fireplaces (indoor and outdoor), large timber-framed windows complete with breathtaking views of the volcanoes; what has affectionately become known as "The land of a Thousand Hills".. Elements like woven ceilings and hand-fired terracotta brickwork crafted by local artisans highlight the authentic East African appeal of this remarkable lodge.

Singita Kwitonda Lodge in Rwanda connects well with Wilderness Safaris newly opened Magashi Camp, offering the more traditional East Africa styled savannah safari. Situated on a peninsula overlooking Lake Rwanyakazinga in north-eastern Akagera National Park – this is an area of outstanding scenic savannah dotted with floodplains, lakes and hills, and home to jaw-dropping birdlife and an impressive range of wildlife that includes buffalo, lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, giraffe, hyaena, topi and roan.

Rwanda's main airport in the capital city of Kigali offers daily connections into East African countries of Tanzania and Kenya for visitors wishing to combine their highly-engaging gorilla safari with the Great Migration, Zanzibar or some of the other well-known and top national parks for wildlife viewing.
