Mana Pools National Park lies at the heart of the Zambezi Valley, a remote, beautiful place with spectacular views of the mighty Zambezi River and the mountainous backdrop of the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia.

Ruckomechi Camp stands in a generous private concession along the banks of this mighty river, gazing out towards Zambia’s evocative escarpment. Its broad-canopied ana trees create welcomed shade throughout the stunning tented camp and craved by the elephants for their rich, nutritious seeds.

The camp's central living space includes an inviting firepit for pleasant evenings beneath the African night skies. Other unique features include a pool which overlooks a broad sweep of the river, an outdoor “bath with a view” in a secluded, scenic spot.

This camp can accommodate twenty guests and four children in ten spacious and beautifully decorated safari tents, including two family rooms, lie beneath the ana trees.

The area offers large concentrations of buffalo and elephant, while predators such as lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are often sighted. Greater kudu, Burchell's zebra, impala, warthog and common waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains and the grunting of hippo can be heard all day. Birdlife is superb, with numerous local specials like collared palm-thrush and racket-tailed roller.

The area is explored by vehicle or on foot and offers access to the extensive private concession as well as the Mana Pools National Park, covering a great diversity of habitats, and therefore a wide range of wildlife.
