Pamushana Lodge
Pamushana Lodge Zimbabwe Singita Deck with View

Pamushana Lodge is located in southeastern Zimbabwe. It shares its southern boundary with Gonarezhou National Park within the private Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve.

Singita's Pamushana Lodge is quite possibly the most luxurious lodge in Zimbabwe.

The lodge has recently been refreshed, refreshing the beautiful suites and redesigning the lodge to face outward to take advantage of the expansive views. The buildings are organically designed, featuring detailed thatch- and stonework. A cliff-top firepit and signature Singita' bar-deli' invite alfresco dining and storytelling under the stars. The décor draws inspiration from the rich tribal history of the region; the lodge's bold and unique design features dramatic colours, geometric patterns, tile inlays and carved furniture, as well as comforting natural fabrics, raw silks and woven leather elements.

The incredibly luxurious lodge itself is perched high on a sandstone ridge under a huge canopy of trees with manicured gardens, with spectacular and panoramic views over the lake and Malilangwe Dam.

Pamushana Lodge is managed and marketed by the Singita team but is owned by The Malilangwe Trust, a Zimbabwean non-profit organisation set up to conserve the wildlife and habitats of the region, develop the neighbouring communities and run some awe-inspiring community and wildlife-support programmes in this area.

The stunning communal areas of Pamushana Lodge include an indoor dining room, several teak dining and relaxing deck areas, a magnificent bar and open-air lounge area, a library, fireplace, an extensive wine cellar and a large heated infinity-edge pool and a jacuzzi, all overlooking Malilangwe Dam and the nearby sandstone hills. Al la Carte Meals are served privately either in the outdoor dining room, on the teak deck outside, or in the bush. The lodge has a spa, fitness and yoga room and a boma.

There are eight elegant, spacious suites – all with private plunge pools, beautiful decks, indoor and outdoor showers and an indoor bathtub, fireplaces and air-conditioning. The suites include four 1-bedroom suites, one 2-bedroom family suite (perfect for two adults and two children), one 3-bedroom family suite (perfect for two adults and four children) and two 2-bedroom suites (ideal for four adults travelling together), plus one villa which sleeps up to 10 people (which has its own kitchen, dining room, living room, nanny flat, private infinity plunge pool and a game viewing deck).

As you might expect, the Pamushana Lodge's service and management are second to none. Friendly yet unobtrusive, each fabulous, professional and experienced Pamushana staff will learn and second-guess your every need. The knowledgeable and professional Zimbabwean pro-guides and trackers know the area intimately and will relay as little or as much information as is wanted in a friendly manner.

The large 130,000-acre reserve is geographically diverse and home to a variety of wildlife, including rare and endangered species such as roan, sable antelope and one of the continent’s highest concentrations of the endangered black rhino. Also expect to see Lichtenstein hartebeest, nyala, klipspringer, cheetah, wild dog, lion, leopard, elephant, white rhino, buffalo and an abundance of birdlife. The landscape of the area is made up of mopane forests, gorges, plains and baobab trees, with the Chiredzi River to the west and the Runde River to the southwest, near Gonarezhou National Park. The lodge also has two tennis courts, and there is a golf course nearby.

With private access to this untouched wilderness, guests can immerse themselves in nature on twice-daily game drives, bush walks, sundowner boat cruises, birdwatching, fishing trips for tigerfish, bass, bream and catfish and excursions to rock art sites or day trips to the beautiful Gonarezhou National Park. Guests can use the hides and waterholes that allow them to get even closer to the wildlife. Guests may spend the night in a private hide in the bush and can also visit the local community outreach programme and irrigation scheme.

Pamushana Lodge can be accessed by road, scheduled charter flights from Johannesburg to Buffalo Range on a Monday or Thursday, where private planes will land from international destinations. Alternatively, the lodge has its own airstrip and helipad accessed from locations within Zimbabwe. Let Safari Guru plan your Pamushana visit in conjunction with other luxury safari offerings in Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls, South Africa's Kruger National Park and the Kalahari and Botswana's Okavango Delta; see Mombo Camp.
