Safari Guru

Little Vumbura Botswana is a fantastically popular camp, well known and loved by the Safari Guru team, and certainly one of our favourite Botswana lodges. Sitting on a beautiful private island in the north of the famous Okavango Delta, which it only shares with its more opulent and larger sister camp Vumbura Plains. This is an exceptional area full of variety; seasonal floodplains, permanent channels, and dry areas with woodland forests. This variety comes in a diverse range of fantastic wildlife and activities. On the land, one can look forward to seeing big cats, lions and leopards, endangered wild dogs, elephants and hundred-strong herds of buffalo. Water-based activities include a relaxed glide through the channels in a traditional dugout canoe (a mokoro) or a faster-paced but still leisurely motorboat trip to seek out hippo, crocs and phenomenal bird life. Catch-and-release fishing for bream and African pike is also available. With some luck, the water activities will end with your finding a floating bar or sundowner set-ups on neighbouring Phi-Phi or Shumba Island. Otherwise, float high in a hot-air balloon or take a scenic helicopter flight for a bird’s-eye view of the floodplains and wildlife.
