LINKWASHA CAMP
Linkwasha Camp Zimbabwe Elephants drinking on a walking safari

Overlooking the perfect vista, the fresh, open and airy design of Linkwasha Camp Zimbabwe is complemented by an eclectic mix of contemporary interiors and Ndebele culture, with the original spirit and essence of safari.

Linkwasha Camp Zimbabwe is situated in a private concession in the south-eastern corner, which is considered one of the best locations in Hwange National Park — found near the famed Ngamo Plains, where wildlife and fantastic birdlife gather in numbers during summer.

The viewing from the camp itself can make some days hard to leave for safari activities, as Linkwasha; and its sunken hide overlooks a pan that is a magnet for game seeking to quench its thirst in the midday heat.

Eight sumptuous en-suite tents and one family unit offer incredible views, overlooking the scenic plain. The main area includes various multi-level decks, amongst them, a cosy library complete with fireplace and shaded salas surrounding an inviting pool.

Hwange’s mix of different veld and landscape types means that game viewing is productive year-round, but notably in the dry winter months. Wildlife frequently encountered in the area includes lion, large herds of elephant, buffalo, cheetah, leopard, spotted hyaena, giraffe, sable, blue wildebeest, impala, waterbuck and reedbuck. In summer, wildebeest, zebra and eland are found in abundance on the open plains, while in winter elephant congregate in enormous numbers around the waterholes. Birdlife in the area is prolific (400+) and varied.

Sleep out on a romantically-lit platform under the crystal clear African skies in the ‘middle-of-nowhere’, and enjoy cultural visits to the local village and school and meeting the prominent and respected headman or headwoman.

Game drives take place in open Land Rovers and are led by highly experienced guides through the most productive area of Hwange National Park. The varied habitats and vegetation types, as well as countless waterholes, mean that drives are exciting with diverse species to be seen.

Over and above having access to professional walking guides which allow you to explore some of the densest concentrations of game in Africa, you also have access to the Hwange ‘night act’! The night-act can include the less seen nocturnal species such as lesser bushbaby, spotted hyaena, leopard, pangolin, Selous mongoose, caracal, porcupine, scrub hare, springhare and even honey badger.
