LOCATION OF GREYSTOKE MAHALE

Greystoke Mahale’s location is perhaps its most defining feature. Set within the Mahale Mountains National Park, the lodge is surrounded by one of the most unspoiled and biodiverse regions in Africa.

The park is inaccessible by road, which adds to its sense of seclusion and exclusivity. Guests typically arrive by light aircraft, flying over vast stretches of wilderness before landing near the shores of Lake Tanganyika, where a boat transfer takes them to the lodge.

Mahale Mountains National Park is one of the most remote and pristine parks in Tanzania. The park covers over 1,600 square kilometers of forested mountains, rolling hills, and valleys, much of which remains largely untouched by human activity.

This wilderness is home not only to chimpanzees but also to other primates, bush pigs, warthogs, and a variety of bird species.

The lodge’s location on Lake Tanganyika, the world’s second-deepest freshwater lake, adds another layer of beauty and tranquility to the experience.
